What is Cadfarch?
Cadfarch is a small friendly group of horse enthusiasts who organise fun rides in different locations around Machynlleth to raise money for charity. We are a non competitive Riding Club who enjoy meeting other horse enthusiasts and riding through some of the most beautiful countryside in the country. Our mission statement is that "Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders will organise Fun Rides and other social events to raise money for different charities and give all horse enthusiasts, especially those that do not wish to compete in conventional equestrian disciplines, the opportunity to meet like minded people".

To join Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders please fill in and return the PDF format application form in the 'Join Now' section. Complete the form and send together with payment of the required membership fees to the Membership Secretary, address stated on the bottom of the Membership form. If you are unable to access the PDF Application form or do not have access to a computer and/or printer please contact a member of the committee and request that a form is posted to you. Please make cheques payable to "Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders".

Our membership rates have been set by the members who voted at the last AGM. Riding Adults £20, Under 16 Riding £15 and Friends of Cadfarch (non-riding) £10.

What do I get?
Riding members will get reduced entry fees at all the rides, have entry to other member only events, membership to the British Riding Clubs and a free quarterly magazine.

What is Cadfarch’s membership year?
Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders membership runs from January to Decemeber each year. Members can join at anytime throughout the year but membership will cease in December of that year. Renewal Membership forms will be cirrculated prior to membership runing out.
Can anyone come on the rides, novice and experienced?
The rides are open to everyone no matter what your level of experience as long as you ntrol your horse.

Do I have to have proper clothing?
You must wear British Standard Approved Riding Hat of BS 1384 or PAS 015 when mounted and your tack must be fit for purpose.

How many rides a year do you organise?
We organise between 5 and 6 rides per year.

Does everybody start and finish together?
The rides are organised in a way that riders can take them at their own pace. Rides start times are 10.00 - 11.30hrs. You can start at any time between these times and you can take as little or as long as you like to complete the ride, as long as you are back by 16.30hrs.

Do you organise any other events?
We organise talks by experts on different issues affecting horse and rider and also social events for members to get to know each other during the year. The committee is also always open to any suggestions members have on events that will like to see organised.

Are non-members able to come to rides?
Non members are able and welcome to take part in Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders ride. Entry forms for each ride will have to be completed in the same way as members but Entry Fee will be highter than Members Fees to reflect the benefits of a Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders membership and additional benefits. The talks and AGM is for our members only.

We unfortunately cannot supply horses.

Is there an age limit for horse or rider?
There is no age limit for your horse as long as it is capable and fit enough to undertake differing terrain and that you can maintain full control of your horse at all times. In the interest of safety we would require all riders to be competent enough to control their horse at all times or have a competent person in charge of them at all times.

What age must you have adult supervision on the ride?
We ask that all under 16 riders have adult supervision on all our rides and no more than a ratio of 2 under 16 to 1 competent adult supervisor. Children under 8 years of age should be on a lead rein at all times.

Can I bring my child on lead rein to any ride?
Yes we welcome lead rein ponies and have specific rides for our most junior riders. See our main web site for more details.

How do I know if my horse is fit enough to do the ride?
Only you or your vet will know if your horse is fit enough to undertake these rides and at what pace, we advise you contact you vet before taking part if you are unsure about your horse’s ability. You should remember that we purposely try to include different terrains in our rides to give you variety and we try to indicate the difficulty of rides on our web site.

We do try to have a short and long route option of between 4 and 16 miles, this should be available on the ride details on our main website.
