Beth Sy'n Digwydd / What's Happening
July Ride - with a difference!!
We researched heavily into make the July Ride different and we were originally hoping to make it a 2 day ride - however because of time commitments to other Cadfarch events we eventually decided to do a conventional Fun Ride but with a theme.
We've decided on a Western Theme - the Trail Ride will be a circular ride of 12.5 miles starting from, like in similar years, Brynllwydwyn Stables Machynlleth. You are strongly encouraged to bring along your bandana, chaps and saddle bags and ride off into the best cowboy country Mid Wales has to offer - as seen in previous years the money raised will be donated to the Wales Air Ambulance, a cause very close to all horse riders' hearts. Gobeithio gweld chi yno!
June Ride
Diwrnod benedigedig arall i Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders! Another successful ride took place in the foothills of Cadair Idris on the 13th of June - with nearly 40 riders raising nearly £800 for Motor Neurone Disease. Riders set off in sunshine and even with a slight shower towards the end it wasn't enough to put them off a great day's ride in glorious surroundings.
Similar to last year - Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders would very much like to thank the family at Maesypandy for their support and in allowing us to take over their yard for the day as our starting point. The backing of the wider community is what makes Cadfarch an unique and special Riding Club to be part of, diolch i chi gyd.
May Ride
The ride took place at Cwm Einion, Tre Dddol on the 16th of May and raised over £500 for the Parkinson's Disease Society, a very worthwhile cause I'm sure you'll agree. It was a great day with over 30 riders taking part over a route with amazing views of the Ceredigion landscape in perfect riding weather.
Cadfarch Quiz
The Cadfarch quiz on the 23rd of April was held at the Machynlleth Rugby Club. There was a good turnout of members and non-members and despite having to share the club with a darts evening our ever enthusiastic Committee Secretary managed to ask the questions without the help of a microphone! £30 cash prize went to the winning team and we also had a raffle with some great prizes (kindly donated by Wynnstay Farmers, Tywyn). Diolch i bawb wnaeth ddod.
Cadfarch Talk
Thank you to everyone that attended Cadfarch's Talk on the 18/03/10 at the Bowling Club, Machynlleth, which was presented by Dodson and Horrell Nutrionist, Clare Ellam at 19.30hrs. Clare gave an interesting talk about the digestion system of the horse and demonstrated on a model and then followed with a discussion on feeding. Photos of the evening can be seen on the Gallery page.
This follows on from the first two successful talks given by Dolgellau Vet and Cadfarch Committee Member, Laura Smith on Equine Denistry and local Farrier, Dorian Lloyd on Feet and Shoeing in January and February 2010 respectively.
Our Talks are lively and informal and have been organised with our members in mind. Therefore if you are interested in learning more about feeding horses come along on the night. Non-members are welcome to attend but a small donation would be appreciated.
Equine Specific First Aid Course
Ceffylau Cadfarch Riders are offering 14 members the opportunity to take the Equine Specific First Aid Course for £80 each (to be noted that this is for Humans and not Horses). It is a two day course provided by the BHS that will give a basic overview of First Aid procedures, but with a focus on the injuries that are most likely to be sustained whilst handling and riding horses.
Non-membes are welcome to take the course as well for £100 each.
